A Simple Amplify-and-Forward Relaying Scheme Based on Clipping and Forwarding for Dual-Hop Transmissions
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, we propose a simple relaying protocol, namely clip-amplify-forward (CAF), for dual-hop transmissions. In the CAF relaying protocol, the received signal at the relay node is clipped firstly and then amplified with a fixed amplification gain before retransmission. Only a hard clipper and a linear amplifier are needed at the relay node, where no channel estimation is needed. Simulation results show that with a relatively small amplification gain, the CAF relaying protocol has very close performance to the AF relaying protocol while enjoying the simplicity of implementation. A simple design criterion for the amplification gain is also presented.

Cooperative relaying is one of the promising technology which is used to improve coverage and spatial diversity. A new relay strategy, the N Best-Relay Selection scheme is proposed to improve the bandwidth penalty and to increase the spatial diversity by using a sub-optimal allocation for the relay relative distance between the source and destination in a multi-hop cooperative systems. A single...

In this paper, we explore the impacts of utilizing intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) in a power-splitting based simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (PS-SWIPT) system and compare its performance with the traditional decode and forward relaying system. To analyze a more practical system, it is also assumed that the receiving nodes are subject to decoding cost, and they are on...

In this paper, we study the performance of dual hop relaying in which the best relay selected by partial relay selection will help the source-destination link to overcome the channel impairment. Specifically, closed-form expressions for outage probability, symbol error probability and achievable diversity gain are derived using the statistical characteristic of the signal-to-noise ratio. This paper proposes Symbol-based Soft Forwarding (SSF) protocol for coded transmissions which is based on a simple proposed soft symbol estimation at relay nodes. We present a simple strategy of forwarding soft information based on a simple linear summation of likelihood functions of each symbol. Specifically, with SSF, we demonstrate that exclusion of decoding at the relays costs no significan...
